1. We have an in-school field trip coming up in March- Scientists in School: Rocks and Minerals.  We are in need of 5 volunteers for each class in order to have the field trip run smoothly.

Weekly Learning Update

Math: 

We are continuing to explore strategies for adding and subtracting numbers to 1000. You are encouraged to practice Basic Facts +/- to 18 with your child at home. Also try some 3-digit by 3-digit subtraction problems with re-grouping. Have your child teach you what to do!

How can you help your child with mental math?

Writing: 

This week we finished our residency. Here are some pictures from the lessons we experienced with Cathy Beveridge.

Reading: 

We are continuing to build our comprehension strategies. Predicting, Questioning, Clarifying and Summarizing.

Art:

The Rainforest Art animals are looking really good. The details that students have added to the animals and the background are amazing. 

Social Studies: Peru

As explorers of the world, we are learning about what life is like in Peru so we can appreciate and understand other cultures. 
This week students have started to plan their Peru projects.
We explored various travel brochures and videos.  We posed the question: What would you need to know if you were traveling to Peru?
Through their travel projects, they will share their understanding of life in Peru.
