Weekly Learning Update
Math:
We are exploring strategies for adding and subtracting numbers to 1000. This week we focused on building our understanding of how to draw Base Ten pictures to help us visualize the process of addition and subtraction with and without regrouping.
Writing: Editing
This week we focused on figurative language, specifically similes to help make our writing more interesting. A simile is a figure of speech that compares two things that are usually different in many ways but are alike in at least one way. Similes usually use the connecting words "like" or "as."
ex. The room is as dark as a dungeon.
Reading: Making Predictions
We are continuing to build our comprehension strategies. This week we worked on making predictions and using the clues from the text to think about what is going to happen next.
